Who We Are & Our Mission
Discover how SkillsWork collaborates with education, industry, and government to build the next generation of skilled trades professionals.
At SkillsWork, we are dedicated to young people and the continued economic prosperity of our communities. As a focused, hands-on organization, we promote careers in the skilled trades and technologies, providing the next generation with the tools and guidance they need to build successful futures.
Through deep partnerships with education, industry, labour, and government, we help young people brighten their horizons while helping local industries build the resilient workforces they need to thrive.
Our Three Pillars of Impact
To make a lasting difference, we coordinate our work across three primary dimensions:
1. Connecting Education & Industry
We bridge the gap between classroom learning and active work environments. By aligning school curricula with the real-world needs of employers, we prepare students to transition seamlessly from graduation to stable employment.
2. Equipping the Next Workforce
We provide students with resources, orientation, and access to technician certificate pathways and apprenticeships. Our work ensures they are equipped with the advanced technical skills required by modern employers.
3. Securing Economic Competitiveness
A region is only as strong as its skilled workforce. By training young people to fill critical shortages in manufacturing, construction, service sectors, and advanced technologies, we ensure our industries remain competitive in the global marketplace.
The Path Ahead
Each year, our programming reaches thousands of young people, our partnerships expand, and our community grows. Yet, we are barely scratching the surface. The demand for qualified workers continues to rise, and the need to challenge outdated stereotypes about the trades is more critical than ever.
There is still much work to be done. We invite students, educators, families, and industry partners to join us in shaping a stronger, more skilled future.
